GOU Celebrates Student Talent and Creativity at 13th Convocation

Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, dedicated Day Four of its 13th Convocation Ceremony to recognizing and celebrating the outstanding talents and creativity of its students. The event showcased an impressive display of skill, passion, and innovation—affirming the university’s commitment to developing excellence beyond academics.

The Talent and Creativity Competition saw students compete across multiple categories, including art, cultural and foreign dances, oratory, public speaking, fashion parade, singing, and eating contests. Winners received generous cash prizes sponsored by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, who attended as the Special Guest of Honour.

In the faculty dance competition, the results were as follows:

1st Place: Faculty of Computing and Information Technology – ₦100,000

2nd Place: Faculty of Management and Social Sciences – ₦70,000

3rd Place: Faculty of Law – ₦50,000

 

4th Place: Faculty of Natural Sciences and Environmental Studies

5th Place: Faculty of Education

6th Place: Faculty of Arts

The GOU Dance Forum secured first place overall, followed by the GOUNI Cultural Dance Group and De Aura Fashion in second place.

In recognition of the Cultural Dance Group’s impressive performance, the Vice-Chancellor announced that the university would provide all necessary costumes for the group moving forward.

Rev. Fr. Prof. Anieke reaffirmed that Creativity Day aims to showcase the non-academic strengths of students, while Convocation Week as a whole honors those who have completed their academic journey.

The ceremony drew notable attendees, including former Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Mr. Chukwudi Ezinwa, as well as principal officers, deans, and professors of the university.
