2021 Cathedraticum: Bishop Obodo reminds the faithful on its essence

St. Theresa Oghe arena in Ezeagu Local Government was filled to the brim as it was the turn of Aguobuowa Deanery to host the Cathedraticum on the 11th of March 2021.

The colourful event saw a mammoth gathering of Priests, Religious, Seminarians and faithful from the Deanery who came to give their support to His Lordship, The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga to continue the numerous works he has been doing in the Diocese.

In his homily, the Auxiliary Bishop explained the need for the Cathedraticum as a support for the Bishop of the Diocese following his many pastoral engagements as well as the numerous ongoing projects the Bishop has undertaken in the Diocese.

According to His Lordship, while making reference to the ongoing reconstruction project of the Cathedral Arena as part of the many projects going on in Diocese, said, it became necessary to build an arena which would take the whole faithful in the 6 Deaneries.

He imagined how people would feel when faithful from the Deaneries gather for an event at the old cathedral with little space even with the COVID-19 pandemic that has ravaged and keeps ravaging nations of the world.

Continuing, the Auxiliary Bishop said His Lordship, Bishop Onaga could have asked the faithful to pay a levy which would be used for the numerous works he embarks on but rather has mapped out avenues like the Cathedraticum which entails giving freely for the support of the Bishop and the church.  According to Bishop Obodo, the developmental projects embarked upon by the Bishop of the Diocese are also for the good of the faithful.

He expressed his happiness and appreciated the Dean of the Deanery on the synergy between the Priests and faithful of Aguobuowa Deanery.

He further encouraged the faithful and the Priests to continue the work of God in togetherness as this goes a long way to bringing development and building the faith of the faithful.

The faithful came with gifts in form of cash, food items and so on.
