It was a heartwarming celebration as the pEziokwu family gathered to commemorate the diamond jubilee of their beloved matriarch, Ezinne Nneora Theresa Eziokwu on Sunday, 4 January 2026. The festivities began with a 9:00 am Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Theresa Parish Ogulogu Olo, her parish, which was filled to capacity with family, friends, and well-wishers.
The atmosphere was electric, with the joy of women and children palpable in the air, a testament to Mrs. Eziokwu’s enduring impact as a shining star, not just to her immediate family, but to the wider community. Affectionately known as “Mama Fada”, a mother to one of the Enugu Catholic priests, her son, Fr. Eziokwu Collins, concelebrated at the mass, and delivered the homily, extolling the Christian virtues found in his mother.
During the thanksgiving, the family made a generous donation to the church, presenting 10 chairs, valued at 200,000 each, to St. Theresa’s Parish, bringing their total contribution to 30 chairs, a fitting tribute and finesse to the recently dedicated church bearing her name.
The celebration continued with a reception, which was a vibrant reflection of Mrs. Eziokwu’s colorful life. The decor, entertainment, and distinguished guests, including Hon. Barr. Sunday Umeha, Federal Representative Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency; Hon. Vita Ndu, Chairman Ezeagu LGA duely represented; HRM Igwe (Amb.) Lawrence Agubuzu; Chief Nnamdi Ozo, CEO Tribu Hotel, Enugu; EazyLife; Fr. Ugonwa and CKP Parish Family, and notable friends of her children, all combined to create an unforgettable atmosphere.
The pièce de glace was a stunning cake, which told the story of Mrs. Eziokwu’s remarkable life, including her early days as a seamstress. The gathering was a testament to her rich legacy, surrounded as she was by her loving children and grandchildren.
This milestone celebration was a fitting tribute to a remarkable woman, and it is clear that Mrs. Eziokwu’s impact will be felt for generations to come.
Mama was married to late Chief Edwin Nwankwomma Eziokwu (Akunatakasi 1 of Olo). Together they built a home and were blessed with nine children and numerous grandchildren. She has served as the president of the Ogulogu Women Organization, Enugu branch and President of the Clothing line at Abakpa Market in Enugu. She has also served for four years as Treasurer of the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) of St. Theresa Parish Ogulogu Olo, Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish Ugbene.
