Pope Leo XIV received the President of Mongolia, H.E. Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, in audience on 4 December 2025 at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. The meeting underscored the deepening relationship between the Holy See and Mongolia.
Following his audience with the Holy Father, President Khürelsükh met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Secretary of State, and Monsignor Mihăiță Blaj, Under-Secretary for Relations with States.
Discussions were described as cordial and forward-looking, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening diplomatic and cultural cooperation. Particular attention was given to the Catholic Church’s contributions within Mongolia — especially in education, healthcare, and community development.
Vatican officials highlighted the positive role of the local Catholic community, noting its growing presence and the value it brings to Mongolian society through social services and educational initiatives.
The meeting marks another step in the ongoing collaboration between the Holy See and Mongolia, as both seek to expand cultural ties and promote mutual understanding.
