Pope Leo XIV began his Apostolic Visit to Lebanon with a formal reception at the Presidential Palace, where he signed the Book of Honour, met with President Joseph Aoun, and received a symbolic gift—a tennis racket and balls—from the Lebanese leader.
In his written message, the Pope expressed heartfelt goodwill toward the nation:
“On the first day of my visit to Lebanon, one of two countries I am visiting on my first Apostolic Voyage as Pope, I gladly invoke many blessings upon all the people of Lebanon, praying that PEACE will reign.”
The warm encounter marked the official start of his visit, underscoring the Pope’s commitment to dialogue, unity, and peace in a country striving for stability.
