Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, has formally commenced its 13th Convocation Ceremony with a solemn Holy Mass led by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor charged graduating students to go into the world as morally, spiritually, and academically grounded ambassadors of the institution. He warned them against negative habits—especially alcohol addiction—and reminded them that the core values instilled at GOUNI are essential for building responsible and successful futures.
Prof. Anieke also reflected on the rising global tensions, urging Christians to remain rooted in God to find true peace. He cautioned against jealousy, procrastination, and the influence of misleading social media content, stressing that every individual will ultimately give an account of their actions.
Highlighting the importance of Convocation Week, the Vice-Chancellor praised the university’s consistency in maintaining its policies and annual traditions. This year’s celebration also marked a unique milestone as the Best Graduating Student served as Vice-Chancellor for One Day. The Mass further featured the joyful baptism of babies, adding a celebratory touch to the gathering.
Principal Officers of the university presented the schedule of major events lined up for the week-long Convocation activities.
