Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, outgoing president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, has urged Catholics across the nation to take part in major anti-corruption rallies scheduled this weekend in Manila.
The call comes as public frustration continues to rise following a string of government fund-misuse scandals and the massive Trillion Peso March on Sept. 21, which drew hundreds of thousands demanding transparency and accountability.
According to Herald Malaysia Online, thousands are expected to join Sunday’s protest as the country faces a deepening political crisis and growing pressure for reform.
