Enugu – Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, visited Godfrey Okoye University today, marking a significant moment for the College of Medical and Nursing Sciences. During the visit, Mr. Obi expressed admiration for the college’s remarkable growth and transformation, highlighting it as a testament to vision, dedication, and purposeful leadership.
In a generous gesture to support education and healthcare development, Mr. Obi contributed ₦15 million toward the university’s ongoing infrastructural projects.
Addressing the students, he encouraged them to see themselves as global citizens capable of shaping the future of Nigeria’s healthcare sector. “You are more than learners; you are future leaders who will proudly represent Nigeria,” he said, stressing the importance of providing young people with the right tools, environment, and moral guidance to excel.
The visit was warmly received by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Most Reverend Callistus Onaga, the Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, and the CMD of GOUNI Teaching Hospital, Professor Amechi Katchy, all of whom praised Mr. Obi’s continued support and belief in the transformative power of quality education.
