Pope Leo XIV welcomed His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, for a private audience at the Vatican on Saturday morning.
In a statement issued by the Holy See Press Office, the discussions were described as “cordial.” Both sides expressed mutual appreciation for the Catholic Church’s significant contributions to South Africa, especially in the fields of education and healthcare.
The statement further highlighted recognition of the Church’s continued efforts to promote dialogue and reconciliation within South African society.
