German Nurse convicted for Killing 10 Patients to “Ease Workload”

A German court has sentenced a palliative care nurse to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of murdering 10 patients and attempting to kill 27 others by administering lethal injections.

Prosecutors revealed that the nurse deliberately injected mostly elderly patients with painkillers and sedatives to reduce his workload during night shifts. The crimes occurred between December 2023 and May 2024 at a clinic near Aachen, in western Germany.

The court classified the case as one of “particular severity,” which means the convict will have little chance of parole after the minimum 15-year term required under German law.

Authorities have also launched investigations into other suspicious deaths linked to the nurse’s career. The verdict remains open to appeal.

This case follows Germany’s deadliest medical killing spree in recent history — when another nurse was sentenced to life in 2019 for murdering 85 patients under his care.
