‘Pilgrims of Hope’ is the theme of the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope, and as such St. Theresa’s Parish Idaw-River kickstarted the Parish segment of the Diocesan Jubilee Year of Hope on Monday, April 14 2025 as they embarked on a pilgrimage to Holy Ghost Cathedral, one of the designated local pilgrimage churches. This significant event marks the beginning of a year-long celebration, where the diocese will focus on spiritual growth, mercy, and healing.
The Jubilee Year of Hope is a special celebration that occurs every 25 years, where the Church offers plenary indulgence to the faithful and rich spiritual benefits. This indulgence is a gift from God that helps remove the temporal consequences of sin, allowing individuals to experience God’s mercy deeply and heal their hearts completely.
The pilgrimage aims to provide spiritual guidance to parishioners, helping them to understand the significance of the Jubilee Year and how to earn the plenary indulgence. The plenary indulgence is a unique opportunity for individuals to experience God’s mercy and love. By participating in the pilgrimage and following the guidelines set by the diocese, parishioners can deepen their faith, seek forgiveness, and receive spiritual healing.
As part of the spiritual exercises, they started with a rosary procession and then the holy mass which was presided over by their parish priest Very Rev. Fr. Michael Okoh; after the holy mass, they observed the Stations of the Cross.
