Antoni Gaudí, “God’s Architect”
Born in 1852, Antoni Gaudí was a renowned Spanish architect known for his unique and intricate designs. He is famous for his work on the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, which he considered a hymn of praise to God. Gaudí’s life was marked by his deep devotion to his faith, and he saw his work as a way to bring people closer to God. He died in 1926 after being struck by a tram.
Fr. Nazareno Lanciotti, Martyr in Brazil
Fr. Nazareno Lanciotti was an Italian missionary who dedicated his life to serving the poor and fighting against injustice in Brazil. Born in 1940, he was ordained a priest in 1966 and became involved with Operation Mato Grosso. His pastoral work made him a target, and he was tragically murdered in 2001.
Eliswa of the Blessed Virgin
Eliswa of the Blessed Virgin was born in Kerala, India, in 1831. After being widowed at a young age, she chose a life of prayer and solitude, caring for the poor and founding the Third Order of Discalced Carmelites. Her selfless dedication to others earned her recognition, and she is set to be beatified.
Fr. Peter Joseph Triest
Fr. Peter Joseph Triest was a Belgian priest who founded several congregations, including the Brothers of Charity and the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary. Born in 1760, he was ordained a priest in 1786 and dedicated his life to serving the poor and abandoned children.
Fr. Angelo Bughetti
Fr. Angelo Bughetti was an Italian diocesan priest born in 1877. He was dedicated to preaching and serving in various charitable activities, focusing on forming the Christian and civic conscience of young people. Despite facing challenges in an anti-clerical climate, he remained committed to his faith and service.
Fr. Agostino Cozzolino
Fr. Agostino Cozzolino was a priest from Campania, Italy, born in 1928. He devoted his life to the formation and catechesis of young people and adults, serving as vice-rector of the Major Seminary of Naples and later as pastor of the Basilica-Shrine of Santa Maria della Neve.
The Pope’s recognition of these individuals’ heroic virtues is a significant step towards their sainthood, inspiring others to live with faith, devotion, and service to others.
