Agbani Deanery kick-starts the 2025 Enugu Diocesan Cathedraticum

The 2025 Enugu Diocesan Cathedraticum commenced at St. John’s Parish, Agbani, with Agbani Deanery hosting the first gathering. Cathedraticum is a special time when parishes and indeed the faithful come together to show solidarity to the diocesan bishop through gifts and donations.

Priests, religious and lay faithful from various parishes within Agbani Deanery gathered in their large numbers to show support to the Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Valentine Onaga, recognizing his dedication and service to the diocese.

The Cathedraticum began with a Holy Mass, which was presided by His Lordship, C.V.C. Onaga. In his homily, the bishop reflected on the theme Chukwu nọnyere anyị (God is with us,) drawing from Isaiah 7:14; that in the midst of political, economic and religious upheavals which are upon us, God is still with us. He warned on the danger of Neopaganism, and urged the congregation to embrace skill acquisition and prioritize education while also encouraging them to actively participate in the weekly Saturday Rosary procession.

Bishop Onaga also took a moment to commend the Agbani Deanery for having the highest representation during the recent visit of the Papal Nuncio to the diocese.

Following the Mass, different parishes presented their gifts as a token of their love and support for the bishop. The Dean of the Deanery, Very Rev. Fr. Stan Zeowa thanked the bishop and the faithful of Agbani Deanery for their continued support.
In a heartfelt vote of thanks, the Vicar General, Very Rev. Geofrey Aguigwo expressed deep gratitude to all present. He praised the Deanery’s commitment and generosity, praying for God’s abundant blessings upon them.
