On Thursday evening, as Pope Francis marked the 12th anniversary of his election to the papacy, the Holy See Press Office provided an update on his health.
In the afternoon, medical staff at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital brought a cake with candles to the Pope’s room to commemorate the occasion. Despite his ongoing treatment, Pope Francis remained engaged in spiritual activities, following the Roman Curia’s Spiritual Exercises via video link with the Paul VI Hall. He also continued his respiratory therapy.
The Holy Father alternates between non-invasive mechanical ventilation at night and high-flow oxygen therapy with nasal cannulas during the day. His condition remains stable, though still within a complex medical picture.
A new medical bulletin is expected on Friday evening.
