Saint Seraphina, also known as Fina, was born in 1238 in San Gimignano, Italy, to a poor family. Despite their poverty, she was known for her kindness and generosity, often sharing her food with those less fortunate. As a young girl, Seraphina was devoted to the Virgin Mary and spent most of her time sewing, spinning, and praying.
At the age of 10, Seraphina contracted a debilitating illness that left her paralyzed from the neck down. Despite her immense suffering, she remained peaceful and prayerful, offering her pain up to God. Her devotion inspired the citizens of San Gimignano, who frequently visited her.
Seraphina died on March 12, 1253, at the age of 15, surrounded by her friends and family. Her death was marked by miracles, and she was later declared a saint. Today, Saint Seraphina is celebrated as the patron saint of disabled people, handicapped people, physically challenged individuals, spinners, and the city of San Gimignano, Italy.
