Pope Francis Continues to Improve, But Prognosis Remains Guarded

Pope Francis is showing signs of continued improvement as he recovers from recent health challenges, according to an update from the Holy See Press Office. The 87-year-old pontiff, who has been battling lung inflammation and mild kidney insufficiency, has responded well to treatment.

A medical report released on Wednesday evening confirmed that the Pope’s kidney function has improved, with no signs of the insufficiency observed in previous days. A chest CT scan conducted on Tuesday night showed that his lung inflammation is progressing as expected, without complications. Additionally, blood test results from Wednesday indicated further improvement compared to the previous day.

Despite these positive developments, the Pope remains on high-flow oxygen therapy to support his breathing. However, medical experts noted that he has not experienced any asthma-like respiratory episodes in the past 24 hours. He continues to receive respiratory physiotherapy as part of his treatment.

In keeping with his spiritual routine, Pope Francis received the Eucharist on Wednesday morning. Later in the afternoon, he resumed his work, demonstrating his determination to stay engaged despite his health condition.

While his overall condition is showing improvement, Vatican officials emphasized that his prognosis remains cautious. The Pope’s medical team continues to monitor his health closely to ensure steady recovery.
