Complete blackout across Nigeria as National grid collapses.

As a result of Nigeria’s energy grid completely collapsing early on Thursday morning, there is a massive blackout throughout the whole nation.

 

On September 14, 2023, at about 12:40 in the morning, the grid reportedly completely failed, causing a huge loss of supplies to power distributors statewide.

 

On Thursday morning, a number of sources in the energy industry, including electrical distribution firms, confirmed the development to our correspondent.

On Thursday, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc published a notice with the heading “Notice of Total System Collapse.”

“The EEDC wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a total system collapse which occurred at 12:40 am today, September 14, 2023,” read the notice.

 

“As a result, there is currently a supply shortage throughout the network. Due to this event, we are unable to serve our customers in the states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo because all of our interface TCN (Transmission Company of Nigeria) stations are out of supply.

Emeka Ezeh, the EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, signed the notice.

 

The TCN, which oversees Nigeria’s grid, has not yet released a comment regarding the situation.

 

A week ago, the transmission company celebrated 400 days of stable electrical grid operation in Nigeria, claiming there had been no grid collapses during that time.
