- Bishop Onaga task the faithful on charity and productivity

The 2023 Cathedraticum train had a stopover at Emene Deanery today, 21st March 2023 at St. Joseph Parish, Emene as Priests, religious and the faithful gathered in their numbers in thanksgiving to God and in support of the Bishop of the Diocese.
In a special way, His Lordship, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga, thanked the faithful for their immense support in the propagation of the gospel and the growth of the Diocese.
According to His Lordship, the idea is not just a scout for money, but an opportunity to sit together as one in the deanery. This he described as one that is much more like a communal get together of the faithful in the deanery and the Bishop. “It provides an opportunity for the Diocese to as well express their gratitude to the faithful and tell them thank you for your constant support and love”, His Lordship reiterated.
Bishop Onaga thanked the priests for their immeasurable sacrifices in disseminating the gospel of Jesus Christ all through the nooks and crannies of the state and beyond.
His Lordship recalling how difficult the early days of the evangelization mission of the church shaped the Diocese, he praised priests and urged them to remain steadfast as the gospel mission is still surging. He further thanked the religious community in Emene Deanery for their many years of consistency, growth and established presence in the lives and faith of the people in Emene Deanery.
His Lordship also heaped unfettered encomium on the faithful, which includes the entire arms, groups and associations of the church.
Recalling the miracle performed by Jesus on the man who has lived with paralysis for 38 years at the pool of Bethesda in John chapter 5, His Lordship noted that God is never tired in the business of healing and saving his people. His Lordship once again affirmed that there is nothing too hard for God to do.
Bishop Onaga urged the faithful to be consistent in living a life reflective of the message of Jesus Christ.
His Lordship decried the level of exploitation and greed amongst the people. According to his Lordship, we should act the way we want our society to be, have faith and always believe that God can always do it all for us.
His Lordship buttressing the need for everyone to always imbibe the attitude of doing good, said that in doing good, one can defy the law. “You can sacrifice the law on the alter of good deeds”, His Lordship noted.
Bishop Onaga however called for continuous prayer, especially for peace in Enugu. He Urged further for a collective effort in food production as it is the right thing to do, especially as the region is heralding the beginning of the rainy season.
As always, the Cathedraticcum witnessed the massive turnout of the faithful in Eemene deanery as they came out in their numbers in thanksgiving to God and to support God’s work in the diocese.
