As part of the activities marking 100 years of Catholicism in Idoma Land, pilgrims from the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo paid a courtesy visit today 21st May to the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga at the Holy Ghost Cathedral.
The visit is part of the 356 pilgrims from Otukpo Diocese representing each deanery who visited St. Paul Ancient Parish Eke on a one day pilgrimage as they celebrate the 100 years of Catholicism in Otukpo Diocese of Benue State.
First exposed to Christianity 100 years ago when the first missionaries came to Idoma Land from Eke, Enugu State, Catholicism has continued to wax strong leading to the growth and development of Otukpo Diocese.
The special connection of Enugu Diocese being the mother diocese was buttressed as the Vicar General of Otukpo Diocese, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Ode, a retired Captain of the Nigerian Army who led the team on the courtesy visit to his Lordship spoke on the significance of the visit.
On the other hand, Bishop Onaga lauded the unity that exists amongst them, noting that their presence is a good indication that they are working together in the diocese.
His Lordship further pledged to support them in every way and assured them on the ever presence of Enugu Diocese as the year long centenary celebration will climax on 28th October the date of the Grand finale.
