Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu to matriculate over 600 new students as the Institution’s strategic planning committee submits report

Over 600 people are to be formerly admitted as new students of Godfrey Okoye University as the university holds its 12th matriculation of regular and sandwich students of the institution on Friday 7th May 2021.

Similarly, the matriculation of NCE and part-time students of the Institute of Ecumenical Education Enugu takes place on Saturday, 8th May, 2021.

A statement by the Registrar of the university Dr. Nnamdi N.S. Ene says the two events which will take place at Justice Cordelia Chukwurah Convocation Arena will begin at 11am each day.

“Each matriculating student is to invite a maximum of four relations to the event Dr. Ene explained, adding that “all students, members of staff and invited persons are to ensure the observance of COVID 19 protocol”

Meanwhile, The Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke says the institution has a Postgraduate School that has the highest academic activities among universities in Nigeria.

Reverend Father Professor Anieke attributed this to the management’s emphasis on proper planning which he said is a necessity in all aspects of human activities and university administration.

Professor Anieke who stated this while receiving the reports of the Strategic Planning Committee of the university said adequate planning defines the direction and operations of the university.

Reverend Father Professor Anieke noted that Godfrey Okoye University Enugu had maintained steady growth, increasing the number of its students from 250 in 2009 to about 3,000 students and from two to five faculties.

In a comment, the Chairman of the Committee, Professor Festus Eze expressed the belief that the report would help to move the institution forward.

In a vote of thanks, the Dean School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Aaron Eze said the report has equipped the officials to serve the university and the society better. “The implementation of the report would add another dimension in university’s administration, Professor Aaron Eze said.

In an answer to a question, the Registrar of the university, Dr. Nnamdi Ene urged the members of staff to contribute their best to make the plan work.

On her part, the Bursar, Dr. Mrs. Modesta Egiyi said the committee had identified things that would help the institution grow financially.

Also speaking, the Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences and Environmental Studies Associate Professor Marian Unachukwu said the staff should joke with the report.

The Committee was set up by the Vice Chancellor of the university to map out strategic programmes and policies of the institution.

The Committee had as Chairman by the Pioneer Registrar of the university, Professor Festus Eze, with the current Registrar Dr. Nnamdi Ene, Bursar, Dr. Modesta Egiyi, Librarian, Mrs. Mary-Allen Chijioke, Dean Postgraduate school, Professor Aaron Eze, Director General Studies, Professor Chidi Uhuegbu, Dean Faculty of Natural and Environmental Studies, Associate Professor Marian Unachukwu, Dean Faculty of Education, Dr. Mrs. Vero Mogbo, Director ICT, Chinedu Chibuzor, Director Academic Planning and Services, Professor MarySylvia Nwachukwu, the Chairperson of the university’s ceremonies committee, Dr. Pat. Allison and the Director, Directorate of Development and Legacy project, Mr. Fredrick Ozoilo as members.

  1. The lead should read “Over 600 students are to be formally…” Note the word formally and not “formerly ” as stated in the write up.
