The Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Ernest Obodo has urged Christians to feel and take advantage of the victory Christ has attained for us by the virtue of his death and resurrection and rise above the many debilitating factors weighing us down.

His Lordship spoke at the Easter Eve Mid Night Mass at Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu. The Mass had The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga as well as many priests, members of the religious community and the faithful in attendance.

In his Easter homily titled, ‘He is not here, He is risen’, Bishop Obodo expressed his happiness on the significance of Easter to the Christian faith and how it rekindles the hope and believe of Christians through the victory Christ won over death.

In his words;

“We are happy because he has risen. We are celebrating life over death, light over darkness. Only Christ, the risen lord can give light in situation of darkness.

“The build of  what we are doing is that life is better than death and light is greater than darkness. It is better to light a candle than to cause darkness.

“Our Lord Jesus Christ is an eternal teacher. We listen to Jesus forever because that is a man who reached out with his own life.

“Christ has gone before us in this journey. The cross is the center of the Christian mystery.

“Everyone of us must pass through our good Friday, we will go through suffering, persecution, denial, and even death like Jesus died. Jesus died, to give us an example, God gave his own son to die for us.

“It reminds us of our own death experience. But, beyond all this, there is life. Jesus died and rose again

“ The mystery we are celebrating today is that of the empty tomb.

“People mocked him, even the soldiers did mock him, but, he rose, he who laughs last laughs best. Jesus descended into hell to bring up all the men of justice, men who died and were just in their life.

“Just as Mary faced a big stone, there are so many big stones that won’t allow you to see the light of God. What is covering your believe in Jesus, and from seeing this man that rose from the death.

Some people whose faith have battered by unbelief, some people are being covered by the big stone of bad habit, unforgiving spirit and the rest of the stumbling block.

“Let all those big stones that cover your face be taken away because the lord has risen.

“It once look like we can’t survive the pandemic, but, thank God he has saved us. He has continued to show us hope.

“Even In the most difficult time in your life, just look at light at the end of the tunnel.

“Let us rise with him, move with faith and hope and go with him just as Mary went to the tomb to anoint Jesus with the strong faith she will find Jesus and then found out he has risen.

“The lord is calling us to rise today because he is risen”, Bishop Obodo urged.
