You are different now, expectations are high – Bishop Obodo to newly Ordained Priests

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu today 19th December 2020 added 28 new Priests in the Order of Priests.

The event took place at St. Paul Parish, Ozala, Nkanu West Local Government Area and officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga.

The newly ordained priests having fulfilled years of formation were first ordained Deacons in June this year before joining the Order of Priesthood in the diocese.

Following the tremendous growth the Catholic Church in Enugu Diocese has been recording over the years with the faith of the people waxing strong each day, the need for more refined priests to tend the millions of faithful in the diocese can never be over emphasized.

While speaking to the newly ordained Priests in his homily today, the Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Ernest Obodo urged them to imbibe humility as a virtue.

His lordship reminded them of the need to understand that they are now different from who they used to be, thus, expectations will be high on them.

He further urged them  to always live their lives upholding the basic tenets of their priesthood and raised their consciousness on the need to never abuse their powers and privileges as Priests and as well respect those that have been on the journey before them.

Advising the newly ordained, The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga harped on the need to embrace prayers at all times.

He further urged all to take up the challenge both in prayer and resources to see to the successful completion of the ongoing reconstruction of the Holy Ghost Cathedral Arena.

28 deacons were ordained priests today. In attendance was The Bishop, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga, His Auxiliary, Most Rev. Ernest Obodo, Priests and religious as well as the faithful who came in their thousands.
