By Chikezie Ogbonna
Following the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest which degenerated to the widespread destruction of public infrastructure in the state and a 24 hour curfew imposed by the Enugu State government, Youths led by Hon. Chima Obieze , member representing Ezeagu constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly on Friday 23rd October 2020 organized themselves to clean up the streets of Enugu so that people can return to their normal life.
Speaking at the cleanup exercise this morning, Hon. Chima decried the level of destruction in the streets of the state metropolis and reminded all that Enugu has always been a place known for her peaceful disposition and cool serenity. He regretted the untold hardship the widespread violence and destruction has caused many innocent members of the public and urged for calm.
He further called on young people to defend their territory whenever such hoodlums come again to destroy public infrastructure, because according to him, everyone will bear the brunt.
Meanwhile, the Editor in Chief of the Choice Flame Newspaper, Rev. Fr. Anthony Aneke who joined the cleanup exercise prayed for everyone present and asked for God’s intervention in the country at this trying time.
