His breath transformed me

By Eberechukwu Orji

Life, a violent wave

Ups and downs, the entirety of my existence

I’m merely a creature that exist

Living solely for the sake that I breathe

I strife with every pace

Labor, my beloved companion

Success, a foe I surmise

With stretched out arms I embraced my fate

Oh, what is life but a deep nefarious sea

Waiting only to devour the gifted

Oh, how I hate my existence

I wish to be at peace with the earth

Then, at the dead of night

In the vision of the night

A man robbed in white

Face like sun; hair like wool

The sweetest voice I ever heard

A whisper of love and hope

By his breath (Zoe) I live

He transformed my world

It’s a new dawn

Laugh with me; dance with me

I overcame his LIES

Now I live
