Men of the Enugu State Fire Service salvaged what could have been a total disaster on Wednesday at midnight following the fire incident that engulfed a palm kernel factory at Ezinifite Street, off Ebony Paint Road, Garriki Awkunanaw in Enugu South Local Government of area, Enugu State.
According to an eyewitness, the fire began by early hours of Thursday 16th January, 2020 at 12:30am precisely. It was said that the fire started at the Palm Kernel Factory and spread to surrounding small business stores but was successfully controlled and eventually quelled by men of the Enugu State Fire Service who came with three of their trucks fully loaded with water.
However, the major cause of the fire is still unknown, but blame has been laid on the electrical connections in the building as the major cause.
Meanwhile, the Enugu South local government chairman as well as some members of the State House of Assembly has visited the scene while affected persons have called on the state government for help following the destruction of their means of livelihood.
This is in fact part of the many commendable high level of professionalism and efficiency the Enugu State Fires Service has been exhibiting in recent time. In the same vein, some of the people who reacted to the swift response of the Fire Service team to the incident further commended the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s led administration in Enugu State for the level of mobilization and support it has provided the Fire service in the state.
