The wicked killing of Rev. Fr. Paul Offu, has been met with wide spread outrage. Announcing the cold murder of the Priest, The Catholic Diocese of Enugu in its Facebook page said that Rev. Fr. Paul Offu was shot dead this evening (1st August 2019) by some hoodlums suspected to be the notorious and murderous Fulani herdsmen, along Ihe-Agbudu Road in Awgu LGA.
Fr. Offu hails from Okpatu in Udi LGA of Enugu State and until his death, was the Parish Priest of St. James the Greater Parish, Ugbawka.

His painful death is coming at the heels of a recent attack on Rev. Fr. Ikechukwu Ilo, along Nomeh axis of Nkanu East Local Government Area on Wednesday Jul 17th by suspected kidnappers who opened fire on him after he refused to obey their instruction to stop his car. Fr. Ilo sustained gunshot injuries and is currently recuperating in the hospital.
The entire Catholic community will not forget in a hurry the gruesome kidnap and murder of Rev. Fr. Clement Ugwu who lost his life at the hands of suspected blood thirsty kidnappers. However, this has called for question on the rising state of insecurity in the state and what has emerged as the inability of the authority to stem the rising cases of insecurity at all level.
Meanwhile an official reaction of the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese is being awaited and as well the Police is yet to release an official statement.
May perpetual light shine upon his gentle and illustrious soul.
