Bishop Onaga celebrates Xmass for Ndi Nna

 Being mindful of the fact that fathers are the pillars of the church and family,the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. C.V.C. Onaga in his magnanimity entertained the Fathers of the Diocese on Tuesday the 11th of Dec, 2018.  In a holy mass officiated by the Bishop, he thanked God for the gift of the day, for making them see the end of the year despite the economic hardship in the country and for the gift of Fathers in the Diocese.

In his homily,Bishop Onaga stressed the need for the Fathers to prepare themselves for the coming of our Lord Jesus. He told them that one of the ways they can do this ,is by making peace with one another and shun anything evil. He advised them to enjoy the Christmas in their capacities provided there is love and understanding in their respective families.

In his Christmas message after the Mass, the Bishop commended Mayor George Nwamanna for his kindness to “NdiNna” by providing them with a yearly cow for their Christmas celebration.

Continuing, the Bishop prayed for the departed members, while stressing to “NdiNna”on the need to be peace makers in the society.  The Bishop also advised the people of Okpatu community to desist fromthose old cultures that are not in union with the Catholic Doctrine like Masquerade practice etc.,reminding “NdiNna” that Catholic Church is not a social club.

However, His Lordship frown at people who despite haven lived all their lives overseas, come back to patronize fetish practices like fortune telling. According to him, such practices set a people backwards. While declaring the party open, He urged “NdiNna” to enjoy his own cow, food and drinks.

In his own speech, Mayor Nwamanna thanked the Lord Bishop for the time out with him while promising to be remitting the sum of N50, 000 monthly for the reconstruction of the Cathedral Arena. Nwamanna urged “NdiNna” to pay the yearly levy of N1000, each to reconstruction project. He also assured a steady donation of cow yearly for the NdiNna’s Christmas Celebration.

Vicar for the laity and Papa NdiUka, Very Rev. Msgr. Ugonna Igboaja in his own speech urged NdiNna to be contented, happy and hopeful. He ended with prayer for protection against evil spirit on “NdiNna”, and for journey mercies on all travelers.

The Director General Chief Emma Eneh (JP) while reading out his Christmas Message to NdiNna, thanked the Bishop for caring for his flock and Mayor Chief George Nwamanna for his love for NdiNna. He promised to add flavor to the yearly event by getting cultural troupes to grace the event

The event ended with closing prayer by Ambassador Brendan Igwebuike, Director of Nkwo Nike Deanery.
